 How do cash drawers work with computers?
Cash drawers can either plug into a serial or USB port but more commonly to the rear of your receipt printer
 What is the difference between cash drawers?
The main difference is between material used in construction and also how they connect to your computer or touchscreen. Most cash drawers are made of steel. This is the strongest and most durable drawer. A steel drawer will allow items to be placed on top without the worry of damaging the drawer and are not significantly more expensive than the plastic drawers.All of our drawers apart from our entry level cash register use steel drawers. There are also some differences in internal cash tray features (media slots, height, number of space trays, tray construction etc.)
 Do I need a barcode scanner with my system?
Scanners will speed up entering of items at point-of-sale and may reduce errors. If you do decide to purchase a scanner there is basically 3 types
- CCD Scanner. These are very inexpensive but are not as effective in reading barcodes on uneven surfaces. However they are typically more durable than laser scanners as they have no moving parts.
- Single Line Laser Scanner. These are the type that most customers purchase. They can be handheld or fixed position or a combination. These devices can also have a trigger or handsfree (automatically turn on when a barcode is presented)
- Omni-Directional Laser Scanner. These are typically the type you see in grocery and supermarket outlets. They have a laser projecting from a number of different angles so that you don’t have to present the barcode from any particular direction. These will allow you to scan a greater number of items more quickly. Also available as wireless devices
I Can I use your software on my computer?
Yes you can, providing the specifications of your equipment match the minimum requirements of the particular software. You can add a scanner, printer, and drawer to most computers and you can replace your monitor with a touch monitor if you wish. All of our software is designed to also operate using a keyboard/mouse combination.
 Why would I need more than one printer?
Well for example, in a dry-cleaning business one printer is used as a receipt and report printer and a second dot-matrix printer to print the special paper required in this business. Also in a hospitality environment other printers may be positioned in a kitchen in order to print orders for the chef or in the bar to print coffee or drink orders
 Do I require a computer if I purchase a cash register or touchscreen from you?
Not necessarily. If you have a small business you could connect a standard printer to a touchscreen and use as a computer. All of our touchscreens are pre-loaded with windows or linux. If you want to use stocktaking facility this may be done on a single terminal and also on some of our stand-alone cash register range
 Can I use Gift Vouchers and does your software produce these?
Yes you will be able to use gift vouchers with out touchscreen solutions. You can generate paper gift vouchers at point-of-sale and also redeem here. You could also use gift cards or vouchers which have been produced for you by a third party. we can design and provide these as well
 Does your system handle customer accounts?
Yes our GellerTouch software has modules for customers and accounts. This would enable you to give credit to account holders and produce invoices, statements etc. The customer module would allow you to issue and redeem loyalty points to your regular customers
